My husband and I have lived in Olmsted Township for over 20 years. We chose Olmsted Township to raise our family. Our boys are both graduates of the Olmsted Falls City School District. During these 20 years, our family has been committed to the community. We have volunteered, taught, and coached. From youth soccer, Saint Mary of the Falls CYO football, Hot Stove Baseball, led the Olmsted Falls Youth Basketball program and served as a PSR teacher. I am a member of Olmsted Falls Kiwanis. I served as a Trustee for Olmsted Township for six years, a position that I committed 110% of my time and effort. When I arrived in office in 2010, I inherited deficient spending, lack of administrative organization and siloed department teams. On my accomplishments page, you can see all the projects, initiatives and activities achieved.
I have genuine concerns about how the Township matters are currently handled. As a former Trustee, I can legitimately speak on this topic because I fully understand the inner workings of the township and township form of governance. We have a Master Plan that needs to be adhered to; we have a Stormwater Plan that our current leadership is not following. There are road & sidewalk projects that have not moved forward and Economic Development that has stalled.
In my time away from the Township, I continued to advocate for our community and the residents who call Olmsted Township home. I wrote the TLCI grant for phases 1 & 2 sidewalks, and the Township was awarded the funding. I wrote letters to Cuyahoga County Planning Commission to alert them of my concerns with proposed residential development plans. I continued to interface with the County Engineer, Soil Water Conservation District, and Olmsted Township Building Department to ensure the developers in active construction developments are following the Stormwater Management Plan and preserving the area's quality. Finally, as an HOA Board member for Woodgate Farms, I stood firm to guarantee the developer corrected an impacted waterway to prevent flooding. It is challenging to live in our community knowing there is so much work to complete and watching as it sits idle.
I am running for Olmsted Township Trustee to give residents a choice. If elected, I will resume moving the Township forward. I have the knowledge and vision for what needs to be done.
As a Trustee, I am committed to:
- Reduction of wasteful spending to ensure a sustainable budget.
- Addressing and correcting the stormwater/flooding issues.
- Ensuring the master plan is followed and hold developers accountable for responsible development, preserve our greenspace.
- Addressing County and Township roadway repairs.
- Completing the sidewalk plan
- Promoting economic development
- Completing the Service Department complex
- Completing Brentwood Park and working to identify funding sources to build out the Metroparks Greenprint path extension
- Completing Schady Dog Park/Community gardens
- Rebuilding the relationship with the Cuyahoga County
- Enhancing opportunities and programs for Senior Citizens
